Questions and Answers

Below you will find answers to many common questions about UCSB Give Day 2018.

What is UCSB GIVE DAY?

UCSB Give Day is a 24-hour digital fundraising event on April 12, 2018. The goal of UCSB Give Day is to bring our community together to celebrate the story of UC Santa Barbara. Give Day 2018 will rally support for the university and unite Gauchos far and near, preserving everything UCSB is known for: campus beauty, academic excellence, and our sunny dispositions. We welcome anybody who considers themselves a Gaucho to join this celebration!

Why is UCSB doing this?

Give Days foster a sense of community and encourage participants to share their memories and love of campus. The result is a day that brings alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends together for collective impact.

What areas can I support?

We encourage you to view participating areas on the main page and find an area that you connect with. If you don't see a specific fund you would like to support, visit our  main giving page to explore additional giving options. Gifts made at giving.ucsb.edu will also count towards UCSB Give Day totals.

Can I make a gift by mail or by phone?

Since UCSB Give Day is one day only, we encourage you to make your gift online. You may call (805) 893-5500 to reach a student representative, who will facilitate a gift by phone. We appreciate gifts by mail, but these would not impact Give Day totals.

What are Matching and Trigger Gifts?

Matching Gifts motivate greater participation by offering donors the opportunity to double the impact of their contribution during special times when matching gifts are available.

Trigger Gifts are celebratory gifts unlocked when a certain number of donors are achieved.

Only gifts made on Give Day will be eligible for Match and Trigger programs, so make sure to check the UCSB Give Day page to see how to make your gift go the farthest!

Is it safe to make a gift online?

Yes. UC Santa Barbara takes significant measures to ensure that all donor information is safe and secure. If you're at all concerned, you can call our help line at (805) 893-5500 and speak to one of our student representatives.

Is there a minimum or maximum gift amount?

We can accept gifts from $10 to $25,000 online. If you would like to make a gift that doesn't fall in this range, please call (805) 893-5500.

Is my gift tax deductible?

Yes. All gifts to the University - including gifts made through this site - are eligible for tax deduction as prescribed by law. Upon fulfilling your online gift, you will receive an email that will function as a tax receipt.

How can I spread the word?

The best way to celebrate UCSB Give Day is to tell your story online. Post, share or comment on your favorite social media platforms with the hashtag #UCSBGiveDay. We recommend following UC Santa Barbara on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram for  challenges, memories, stories, and updates.
